Welcome to the 2016-2017 High School Sailing year! There is lots of info and many links needed throughout the year in this newsletter. Please read through so you can have your sailors as ready for sailing this year as possible. Your primary place to find information should be the ISSA ( and SEISA ( websites, but if there are any questions then please reach out to a board member at The ISSA websites have only just gone live the last week in August, so you are now free to register teams, update rosters, view schedules, etc.

The SEISA District held its first Annual Membership Meeting at the 2015 Great Oaks Regatta, on Nov. 21, 2015!. The SEISA Members adopted the proposed Bylaws and elected a Board of Directors. Immediately following, the SEISA Board of Directors held its first meeting and adopted District Rules. Please check for these new documents and the listing of the SEISA Board of Directors in the ABOUT SEISA tab. An updated schedule for the Spring 2016 semester should be coming very soon.

We just finished the ISSA Annual meeting last Friday during the Cressy Championships sponsored by Laser Performance being held at Old Dominion University. We had all 7 of our districts represented which is very important as we set various goals for our future. We have stability with our Board members with strong continuity each year as we move forward. This year we awarded Rob Hurd the Geoff Spranger Award recognizing extraordinary dedication and selflessness, and Bill Campbell and Mike Segerblom with the President’s Award for exception service to ISSA. Congratulations to all 3 well deserving recipients.

Congratulations to Joseph Hou from Newport Harbor for winning the Cressy Trophy in the Laser Radial.
