2010 Sea Otter Regatta
REGATTA REPORT:
45 PCISA teams participated in the Sea Otter Regatta on October 2-3 in Monterey, Ca., hosted by Monterey Peninsula Yacht Club.
Saturday was a picture perfect Chamber of Commerce day, with sunny skies and consistent 8-10 kt breeze, and a small swell. The race committee took advantage of the weather and was able to run 20 W - L races. A couple of breakdowns were awarded, and three protests were withdrawn.
Sunday began with a light 4 kt North breeze, enough to get a few races in. The wind then shifted to the West and built to 10 kts, with big shifts during the races. After 12 races the race committee called it a day so that the travelers could get on the road at a reasonable time.
Congratulations to Gold fleet winners Cathedral Catholic, who were in a close contest with Point Loma Varsity and JV, finishing 2nd and 3rd. Congratulations also to Silver fleet winners Corona Del Mar JV2, who dominated the fleet with only 50 points.
A special thanks goes out to MPYC Vice Commodore Joe Headley, who worked closely with the City of Monterey to provide a an area for spectators on the wharf for everyone's viewing pleasure.
